Investigators seeking White County man accused of setting fire to his home

State investigators are seeking the whereabouts of a White County man accused of setting fire to his own home off Campbell Street in Cleveland on April 29.

James Christopher Hughes, 63, of Cleveland is wanted for one count of second-degree criminal damage to property.

“Several occupants were home at the time this fire was set, but thankfully only minor damages were caused, and no injuries were sustained,” said Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King.

Anyone with information about Hughes’ location is asked to call state fire investigators at (800) 282-5804.

State fire investigators are assisting Cleveland Fire Department and White County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
