The annual summer burn ban for 54 Georgia counties, including Hall, begins Friday, May 1.
Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zachary Brackett issued a reminder to Hall County citizens about the annual ban.
"On May 1, 2020 citizens of Hall County will again be prohibited to burn yard and land-clearing debris until October," Brackett said in a press statement. "As always, burning of household garbage is prohibited."
Recreational fires, such as those for campfires and grilling, are not included in the ban.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division fire enacted the summer burn ban in 2005 in an effort to improve the state's air quality. Ground-level ozone increases to unhealthy levels in the summer months.
In addition to Hall County, other counties in the region included in the burn ban are Banks, Barrow, Dawson, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Jackson and Lumpkin.
