The state fire marshal’s office is investigating after an overnight cabin fire at Sunburst Stables in Batesville.

Habersham County E-9-1-1 received a call reporting the fire at 251 Sunburst Lane at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday.

When responders arrived, they found a cabin fully involved in fire and a small woods fire, said Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black.

“Due to lack of hydrants in the area, units had to perform a water shuttle to assist in controlling the fire,” Black said.

No injuries were reported.

In addition to Habersham County Emergency Services Engines 13 and 16, Tanker 17, Battalion 1 and Captain 1, Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department and a tanker from White County Fire Services also responded. Units remained on scene for more than three hours extinguishing the fire, returning to service just before 4 a.m., Black said.

The investigation into the cause is continuing.

A barn on the property burned March 16, killing some birds and ducks.
