As a result of recent rains and high water levels on Lake Lanier, Old Federal Campground in Flowery Branch has been closed.

According to officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the water levels have caused what is described as "significant shoreline erosion," making many areas around the campground unsafe.

With public safety in mind, the campground has been closed until repairs can be made. Federal officials said they are unsure when the campground can be re-opened.

Old Federal Campground is located at 6219 Old Federal Road in Flowery Branch.
