Police officers in the City of Cumming have reported an increase in the number of super speeders on a section of Georgia 400 that is in the city's jurisdiction.
In a social media post, the City of Cumming Police said drivers have been speeding more because there's less traffic on the highway.
"Since the implementation of the statewide shelter in place order there has been a lot less traffic on Highway 400, especially at night. Some drivers have decided to take the lack of traffic on the roadway as an opportunity to see how fast their vehicles will go," the Facebook post stated.
According to the post, in the last week, officers observed the following speeds on Georgia 400:
- 48 vehicles traveling between 85-89 miles per hour.
- Eight vehicles traveling between 90-99 miles per hour.
- One vehicle at 105 miles per hour.
- One vehicle at 123 miles per hour.
The speed limit on Highway 400 in the City of Cumming is 65 miles per hour.
