An investigation into an alleged child molestation in Hall County in 2019 resulted in the arrest of a Gillsville man last Friday.

Roberto Carlos Bonilla, 19, faces one count of aggravated child molestation in the case, which was opened by investigators with the Hall County Sheriff's Office last month after the incident was reported by a family member of the victim.

"According to the preliminary investigation, Bonilla performed oral sex and touched the genitals of the male victim, who is under the age of 16," said Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth. "The crime happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 29, 2019, at the victim’s residence."

Booth said that Bonilla was acquainted with the victim at the time the alleged acts were committed.

"After disclosure by the victim, a family member reported the 2019 incident to Hall Sheriff’s Deputies on Thursday, March 19," Booth said. "Investigators arrested [Bonilla] at Hall County Sheriff’s Office headquarters on Friday afternoon, April 10."

At last report, Bonilla remains the Hall County Jail without bond.

The case remains under investigation.
