The Hall County Library System is launching a new online tutoring service Monday for students Kindergarten through twelfth grade, early college and adult learners.

The service, called Tutor.com, is made possible for the Hall County Library System by a grant from the Jackson EMC foundation.

Tutor.com connects students with over 3,000 expert tutors who are fully vetted and passed extensive background checks. The tutors offer help with on-demand academic tutoring, homework help and test preparation in more than 60 subjects.

The tutors are available to assist students in live time from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. every day.

This online tutoring service also offers a writing lab, ACT/SAT test preparation from the Princeton Review and Advanced Placement course videos. Some of these resources are available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Lisa MacKinney, Library Director for the Hall County Library System, said Tutor.com is a benefit to the entire academic community.

“It’s going to help every demographic be able to improve their academics in whatever way they would like to, whether it’s one-on-one math tutoring or beefing up your college entrance essay,” said MacKinney.

MacKinney said adult learners can even utilize the service to help with writing cover letters.

MacKinney said other nearby library systems have implemented the service with great results.

“It’s a wonderful resource…it’s so popular in communities where it already exists so we’re thrilled to be able to add it,” said Lisa MacKinney, Library Director for the Hall County Library System.

Any patron of the Hall County Library System will have access to the service. While the libraries are currently closed due to shelter in place orders, MacKinney said a temporary digital card can be obtained by emailing [email protected] or calling 770-532-3311.
