Adam Rich is trying to stay busy.

The East Hall assistant principal and athletics director has turned his focus on next year but is also dealing with the current school year as well.

He calls it multitasking. Whatever it may be, Rich is trying to stay busy during the school shutdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As an assistant principal, you're always looking ahead to what positions we'll need," he said. "As an administrator, we're allowed to come to school, so I'll go in off and on. Right now, I'm doing a lot of online interviews."

He's also reaching into his elementary school teaching skills helping his fourth-grader and kindergartener with online learning.

"The good news is I get to spend some time with my kids again," he said. "The negative is I grew up on a little different math model than our kids do now. I'm having to teach myself some of this new math."

Coupled with all that, he's also in charge of the Vikings' athletic department.

"Imaging doing everything in your job and it all builds up to a certain point and you finally get the chance to do what you love to do ... and it gets taken away from you," he said about his coaching staff. "That's what our spring coaches are dealing with right now.  That's who you feel for ... the coaches, the seniors."

The Georgia High School Association hasn't thrown the towel in yet on the spring sports season, but it looks like it could potentially happen in the next 10 days.

Whatever happens, however, Rich will continue to keep East Hall's athletic department moving forward during and after the closure.
