Raccoon captured in Murrayville tests positive for rabies

A raccoon that came into contact with two dogs in the 5000 block of Lee Road in Murrayville has tested positive for rabies.

The raccoon was captured and sent to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur for testing. Hall County Animal Control was informed of the positive test results on March 27th. This is the first positive case of rabies in Hall County for 2020.

Alert signs will be posted in the area where the raccoon was spotted and captured. Residents of the area are encouraged to keep a lookout for animals acting abnormally. If an animal seems to act unusual, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
