A Dawson County man died when his vehicle skidded off a rain-soaked roadway in Murrayville Tuesday afternoon, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Cpl.  Joshua Hedden with Post 6 in Gainesville said the fatal crash happened around 12:35 p.m. on SR 60 (Thompson Bridge Road) at Bark Camp Road. The victim was Michael Buck, age 20, according to Hedden.

Hedden said Buck was driving his Toyota Tacoma southbound on Thompson Bridge Road when the accident occurred.

"Mr. Buck was negotiating a slight left curve as he was passing through the city of Murrayville near Bark Camp Road," Hedden wrote in a press release. "During this time it was heavily raining and the roadway surface was wet. Mr. Buck lost control of his vehicle causing him to cross the centerline, travel across the northbound lane and off the left shoulder of the roadway."

Hedden said the vehicle traveled through the parking lot at Murrayville Auto Parts and hit a parked semi utility trailer.

"The vehicle came to a uncontrolled rest underneath the trailer resulting in the fatal injury to the driver," Hedden said.

He said Buck was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, and the airbag in the vehicle deployed.
