A Gainesville man remains in jail in Dawson County following a home burglary and a chase with sheriff's deputies a week ago.
Jail records show 63-year-old Arthur Richard Ardeneaux faces a total of 13 charges in connection to the March 12 incident at a residence on Henry Grady Highway.
A report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution said the homeowner caught Ardeneaux breaking into the house around 3:45 p.m. The man went to the house, armed with a gun, when his alarm system triggered, and he tried to detain Ardeneaux. However, when deputies with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, the suspect sped away.
Deputies followed Ardeneaux onto Georgia 400 southbound, according to the newspaper report, but the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed at the intersection of the interstate and Harmony Church Road.
Jail records show Ardeneaux faces the following charges:
- Burglary in the first degree
- Obstruction of officer
- Fleeing/eluding police officer
- Failure to yield right of way
- Signals required in changing lanes x 2
- Crossing median in divided highway
- Reckless driving
- Failure to maintain lane x 2
- Too fast for conditions
- Failure to stop for stop sign
- Following too closely
