Several fires were set Monday inside a house in Maysville, and state fire investigators are now searching for the suspect or suspects.

According to information released by the State Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's Office, the Plainview Fire Department and the Jackson Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Unity Church Circle around 5:15 p.m. on March 16.

Commissioner John King said investigators determined several fires had been set inside the 1,400 square-foot house.

"This house has been vacant since December of 2019 and thankfully only suffered minor damages as a result of the fires," said King. "If you have any information on the individual or individuals responsible, I ask that you call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800- 282-5804."

King said rewards are offered of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist. Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can choose to remain anonymous.
