A new report touting the best mid-sized cities in the nation for small businesses has seven Georgia cities on the list with Gainesville ranked top among those cities.

ChamberofCommerce.org recently released its newest report Best Small Cities for Business, highlighting US cities that have cultivated the optimal environment for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

The report analyzed mid-sized cities, demonstrating that although massive metropolitan cities often take the spotlight when it comes to small business ownership, modestly-populated cities are rapidly rising in popularity for small business development.

While the report showed the Midwest was the best area of the nation and Appleton, Wisconsin was the number one mid-sized city for small business, seven Georgia cities showed up on the report.

In compiling its report, ChamberofCommerce.org said it selected variables that allow for a proper analysis while avoiding under-representative values or overly-constricting methodologies. The Best Small Cities for Business Report includes cities between populations of 50,000 and 250,000, and variables such as levels of college completion, labor force participation, unemployment rate over the age of 16, median income, regional price parity and others.
