The Gainesville Police Department has confirmed finding a deceased adult female near Lake Lanier Wednesday evening.
According to Spokeswoman Cpl. Jessica Vann, the body was located near Dixon Drive.
"Gainesville Police are investigating the discovery of a deceased adult female along Lake Lanier near Dixon Drive," Vann said. "This is an active investigation."
Few details about the circumstances of the death or how the body was discovered are unknown at this time, but authorities are expected to release more details soon.
