Tennis: GHS sweeps Dacula in 8-6A play; JHS boys fall in 8-5A play

DACULA — The Gainesville girls tennis team improved to 2-0 in Region 8-6A with a tight 4-1 win over Dacula Tuesday on the road.

Two of the matches went three sets with one, Hannah Williams, staging a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 comeback victory at No. 1 singles. Kate Abernathy at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, and
Emmaline Dye at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, provided the diffenrence.

The No. 2 doubles team of Page Thompson and Caroline Brown also won a close three-setter, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

The Lady red Elephants will be back in action next Tuesday traveling to Winder-Barrow in another region contest.


GAINESVILLE BOYS 5,
DACULA 0

The Gainesville boys did not drop a set in taking a dominant win in Region 8-6A action.
Dylan Pineda won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Philip Mady and Truett Keener each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories in the other two singles matches.

Both doubles teams of Caleb Anderson and Charlie Burns and Samuel Holt and Andrew Elliott also got 6-0, 6-0 wins to complete the sweep.
Gainesville is 4-1 overall 2-0 in region play.

The Gainesville boys will be back in action on Wednesday against Rabun County at Longwood Park.


LOGANVILLE BOYS 5,
JOHNSON 0

The Knights dropped their Region 8-5A opener to the Red Devils but took several matches deep despite the lopsided loss.

Jaime Baez lost 6-7, 6-4 (10-4) at No. 2 while Cody Peck and Allan Garcia lost in close matches in the other two.

Loganville dropped just one game in sweeping the doubles.
