Election offices across Georgia will be busy places Monday as qualifying begins for the May 19 General Election primaries and early voting starts for the March 24 presidential primaries.

EARLY VOTING

In Hall County, this time around, there will be more options for early voters when it comes to where and when they can cast their ballot.

"Early voting will continue as usual during its first two weeks, March 2- March 13, with polls open at the Hall County Government Center," Hall County Elections Director Lori Wurtz said. "During the third and final week of early voting, voters can cast their ballots at the North Hall Community Center, the East Hall Community Center and Spout Springs Library, in addition to the Hall County Government Center."

The early voting period, March 2- March 20, will also include longer hours with polls opening at 7 a.m. and closing at 7 p.m.

"We hope these additional locations and extended hours serve as a convenience to our voters and provide ample opportunity for them to cast their vote," said Wurtz.

On Saturday, March 14, polls will open at the North Hall Community Center, East Hall Community Center, Spout Springs Library and the Hall County Government Center as a part of statewide Saturday early voting.

In addition to the presidential primaries on March 24, voters in Gainesville and Hall County will be deciding the fate of an extension of an education sales tax (E-SPLOST) and two school bond referendums, one for the Gainesville City School System and one for the Hall County system.

QUALIFYING

Qualifying for the May 19 General Election primaries, which also begins Monday, will continue through Friday.

There are about 20 Hall County offices that will be up for grabs this year. Qualifying will take place for Democratic candidates at Hall County Democratic headquarters on College Avenue.  Republican candidates will sign up at Foxhole Guns & Archery on Plaza Drive.

More information regarding the upcoming presidential preference primary, and election information in general, can be found here, including sample ballots for the voting on March 24.
