A Maysville woman was injured when her car collided with a Banks County school bus as she tried to steer her car around a pickup truck that pulled into her path Wednesday morning.

The wreck happened on Ga. 98 at Grove Level Road just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Wendy Hall, 48, of Maysville was driving a 1947 Plymouth Coupe north on Ga. 98 approaching the intersection of Grove Level Road when an unknown pickup truck stopped at the stop sign on Grove Level Road then entered the northbound lane of Ga. 98, said Sgt. Auston Allen of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.

Hall swerved to the right, attempting to avoid striking the unknown pickup truck, Allen said. The car traveled onto the east shoulder and Hall overcorrected. The car began to rotate, traveling into the southbound lane and striking the school bus.

The 2008 Freightliner school bus was driven by Amy Burchett, 30, of Maysville and was not loaded at the time of the collision.

The school bus involved is equipped with a camera system and that video showed the truck pulled out in front of the car as Hall stated, according to Allen.

Hall was injured and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by a Banks County ambulance.

The driver of the unknown pickup truck left the scene and did not return.
