WINDER — The Gainesville boys tennis team opened its Region 8-6A schedule with a dominating 5-0 win over Apalachee Tuesday on the road.
In singles, Dylan Pineda won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1, Philip Mady rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2, and Truett Keener earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3.
For the doubles, Caleb Anderson and Charlie Burns won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 and Andrew Elliott and Samuel Holt took a 6-1, 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.
Gainesville next will travel to Flowery Branch on Thursday.

The Lady red Elephants also earned a 5-0 sweep in Region 8-6A play.
Hannah Williams won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Kate Abernathy won 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, and Emmaline Dye took a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Callie Patterson and Mia Lily won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles and Page Thompson and Caroline Brown won 6-3, 6-1 at No.2 doubles.
