Army Corps of Engineers: Lake Lanier levels projected to near record high

While it remains to be seen whether rising Lake Lanier levels will break the record high, data from the Army Corps of Engineers projects it will get very close.

According to Deputy Chief Lance Davis with the Army Corps of Engineers, the Corps is estimating the the lake will reach up to 1,077 feet following predicted precipitation on February 23rd. 

Current levels for Lake Lanier are 1,076.59 feet as of Wednesday afternoon. Davis said the Corps predicts this level will rise to 1,076.8 feet by Friday.

The record high for Lake Lanier is 1,077.2 feet during April of 1964.
