The Gainesville Police Department is searching for a bank robbery suspect that robbed a local BB&T this morning.

According to Chief of Police Jay Parrish, the robbery took place at the BB&T on the corner of Jesse Jewell and West Academy Street. A social media post from the Gainesville police department said the suspect demanded an undisclosed amount of money and gave bank employees the impression he was armed with a firearm. The suspect fled on foot after getting the money.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a goatee and wearing a navy blue trench coat or raincoat with a tan collared shirt and beige/tan rain hat.

Details are pending. No injuries have been reported.
