RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — The Georgia men’s golf team stands third after one round of the Puerto Rico Classic.
On Sunday on the Rio Mar River Course’s par-72, 6,902-yard layout, the Bulldogs landed at 3-under 285. Oklahoma has the team lead at 7-under 281, followed by Georgia Tech at 6-under 282. Georgia and Alabama are tied for the third position.
Senior Spencer Ralston of Gainesville paced the Bulldogs in the spring’s opening round as he signed for a 3-under 69. Ralston is in third place, just one shy of co-leaders Andrew Farraye of Purdue and Connor Howe of Georgia Tech. Ralston made eagle on the par-5, 544-yard 15th and posted three birdies during his round.
Senior Will Chandler, junior Davis Thompson, and sophomore Trent Phillips all posted an even-par 72 on Sunday. Freshman Connor Creasy had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 6-over 78.
In the Puerto Rico Individual Classic on the par-71, 6,782-yard Ocean Course, sophomore Will Kahlstorf fired a 6-over 77 to stand ninth. Oklahoma’s Logan McAllister set the pace at even-par 71.
The Puerto Rico Classic and the Puerto Rico Individual Classic will continue on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday. The Bulldogs and the other teams will have a shotgun start at 7 a.m. EST/8 a.m. AST on Monday and 6:30 a.m. EST/7:30 a.m. AST on Tuesday.
