In observance of Arbor Day, Girl Scouts from Troop 10878 in Gainesville recently planted a native redbud tree at Don Carter State Park.

The tree was donated by New Leaf Landscape Services.

Steven Emery, Park Manager, supervised the planting. Also helping were Hall County Master Gardner Mary Griffin and Danny Tymchuk, father of one of the scouts involved in the project.

Georgia will celebrate Arbor Day this year on Feb. 21.
