A Jefferson man faces a long list of charges after he apparently fled not once, but three times, from Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies.
According to a social media post from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, a deputy attempted to stop Jerry Nix, 49, for a traffic violation the morning of Friday, Feb. 14.
"The vehicle driven by Jerry Nix then fled from the deputy, violating several traffic laws," the post said. "Nix wrecked the vehicle on B. Whitfield Road and fled on foot."
The information went on to say Nix was spotted later in the day in the same vicinity; he again ran from deputies.
At that point, deputies used K9 Tess to track Nix; she found the suspect in less than 10 minutes, and he was arrested.
Nix, who had two felony probation warrants prior to Friday, now faces a long list of charges including felony fleeing in attempt to elude, reckless driving, obstruction of an officer, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of failure to maintain lane and removing/falsified ID of license plate.
