FLOWERY BRANCH — The Lanier Christian Academy girls opened the GAPPS state tournament Monday with a 50-25 first round win over The Kings Academy.
The Lightning defense held Kings Academy to 9 points or less in every quarter. LCA raced out to a 17-2 lead after the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way.
LCA took a 29-11 lead into halftime and a 43-20 advantae into the final period.
Faith Wasden led the Lightning with 20 points. Reece Montgomery had 10 points and Madison Hughes 8 points for LCA.
LCA (17-4) next will take on Covenant Christian at Central Georgia Tech in Macon in the GAPPS quarterfinals on Friday.
