NEW SMYRNA, Fla. - Two nights, two different 15-year-olds in Victory Lane for the first time.

After taking the lead on the initial start, Jesse Love led every lap en route to the Super Late Model victory on night two of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway.

The win is the Menlo Park, California native’s first ever in an SLM.

When an easy victory looked like a certainty, the caution came out with two laps to go, setting up a two-lap dash to the checkered flag.

“I was thinking about the yellow flag,” Love said. “Pretty much knew it was about to come out.”

But he nailed the restart and drove it all the way to Victory Lane.

“Super grateful to these guys,” he said. “When you’re able to run 50-60 percent towards the latter stages of the race, just goes to show how good your car is. I had a complete rocket ship tonight. This thing was bad fast.”

Derek Griffith and Brad May finished second and third, respectively, for the second consecutive night, with Colin Garrett in fourth and Augie Grill in fifth.

Sammy Smith, Ryan Moore, Anthony Sergi, Monroe, Georgia’s Jake Garcia and Justin Mondiek rounded out the top 10.

In other action, Travis Eddy won the Florida Modified event for the second night in a row, Jesse Henley won the 50-lap Sportsman feature after Earl Beckner failed post-race technical inspection for weight, Jett Noland won the 35-lap Pro Late Model feature and Tyler Simpson won the 25-lap Mod Mini race.

Action in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing continues on Sunday night, with the Super Late Models, Modifieds, and Pro Late Model in competition. Visit NewSmyrnaSpeedway.org for more information.
