TIGER — The Banks County girls have been on a roll since the 80-25 win over Social Circle on Jan. 28.
That roll continued on Friday with a 74-71 upset win on No. 4-ranked Rabun County's home court in the semifinals of the Region 8-2A tournament. The win sends the Lady Leopards (14-14, Region 8-2A No. 5 seed) to the title game on Saturday against Union County. It was also Banks' fourth straight win.
Union County beat Putnam County in the 4 p.m. semifinal, 59-51.
Rabun County will play Putnam County in the consolation game at Rabun on Saturday. Tip-off is 4 p.m. The winner will be the No. 3 seed in the Class 2A tournament next week.
Rabun's Heather Vaughn scored a team-high 22 points and Jacy Ayers contributed 18 points.
Laken Stiles poured in a game-high 26 points to lead the Lady Wildcats (23-2, Region 8-2A No. 1 seed). Hanna Cannon added 12 points, and Loren Stiles chipped in 10.

Ava Hunter scored 25 points to lead the Lady Panthers past Putnam County and into the Region 8-2A championship game against Banks County on Friday in the semifinals of the Region 8-2A tournament at Rabun County High.
Union (20-6, Region 8-2A No. 3 seed) led by as many as 21 points, 39-18, late in the third quarter. Putnam made its best run mid-way through the fourth quarter, closing the gap 45-3 and 54-49 with under 2 minutes to go.
Brooke Dockrey added 11 points, and Andelin Hill had 9.
Union will play Banks County on Saturday. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
