COMMERCE — The Lakeview girls rallied from 10-points down in the fourth quarter to beat Tallulah Falls, 47-45, on Friday in the Region 8-A semifinals at Commerce High School.
Lakeview (20-7, Region 8-A No. 2 seed) will play Hebron Christian on Saturday for the region title. Game time is 6 p.m.
Eliza Snyder poured in 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to pace the Lady Lions. Joelle Snyder scored 11 points. and Jackie Allen
The Lady Indians darted out to an 11-2 first-quarter lead, but Lakeview found its way back by the half, trailing 18-15. The Lady Indians, however, pushed the lead up to 10 points at the end of the third quarter, 36-26.
The Lady Lions grabbed the lead late in the fourth quarter and held it to advance.
Jackie Allen added 7 points and dished out 4 assists, while Maddy Towles had 6 points and Ellie Kate Madonna hit for 3 points and 4 rebounds in the win.
TOWNS COUNTY 51,
LAKEVIEW 41
The Lions (11-16, Region 8-A No. 6 seed) fought back in the third quarter, but Towns County was just too much in a 51-41 loss in the semifinals of the Region 8-A tournament at Commerce High School.
After falling behind 24-18 at the half, the Lions rallied back in the third quarter to cut the deficit 33-30. But the Indians (18-7, Region 8-A No. 2 seed) outpaced Lakeview, 18-8, in the final period to win and advance to the region title game on Saturday at Commerce.
Conley Millwood led the Lions with 12 points, Sam Stewart added 10, and Jones Harris chipped in 9.
The Indians hit 23-of-36 foul shots, while Lakeview only attempted 8 and hit five of those. The Lions will wait for the final GHSA Power Ratings for a possible playoff berth.
Right now, Lakeview sits three spots outside of the top 24 teams.
Towns County will play the winner of Riverside Military/Athens Christian on Saturday. Tip off is 7:30 p.m.
