*Dawson County EMS Division Chief/Fire Marshal Jeff Baily was deputized by state Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John King Tuesday.  As a Deputy State Fire Marshal, Baily will now be allowed to perform state inspections of local businesses, an act that normally falls to the state fire marshal’s office to perform.

*Dedication ceremonies will be held Feb. 21 at 11:00 at Copper Glen Subdivision for Habitat for Humanity of Hall County’s 65th home.

*The Georgia Mountain Regional Commission’s Career Coach will be at the Cumming Library on Dahlonega Street Feb. 13, 10:00-2:00, to help job seekers.

*Truett McConnell University’s Office of Graduate Admissions will host its first Graduate Open House on the university’s campus, Saturday, March 7th. *The Gen. James Longstreet Museum and History Center, located in the historic Piedmont Hotel on Maple Street in Gainesville, will be open Sunday, Feb. 9, 12:00-4:00 as part of the Georgia History Festival's Super Museum Sunday.  There will be a free screening of the movie “Gettysburg” and tours of the facility will also be available.

*The Georgia Department of Transportation and Gwinnett County will host two meetings next week as part of their corridor study along I-85 between I-285 and I-985.  The meetings will be Feb. 8,, 9:00 a.m.-to 11:00 a.m. at George Pierce Park, 55 Buford Highway NE, Suwanee, and Feb. 11, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Lilburn Activity Building, 788 Hillcrest Road, Lilburn.
