For the fourth year running, Hall County Fire Services placed first in the annual "Give Burns the Boot" drive, benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Hall County firefighters collected more than $83,000 in donations from citizens on three consecutive Fridays during the month of October. That brings the total amount raised during the four-year period to more than $276,000.

"The citizens of Hall County have set the standard for contributions to the Burn Foundation across the State of Georgia for the last four years," said Hall County Fire Chief Chris Armstrong in a press statement. "This in itself says a lot about our community and their support for the mission of our agency and public safety as a whole."

An incentive of 10% of the total collected by each department is returned to the local fire department for ongoing fire prevention and safety efforts. Hall County Fire Services will receive more than $8,300 for local fire and life safety education programs.

The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to partner with the fire service and burn care community to provide fire safety and prevention education, support medical facilities and assist burn survivors in their recovery. Among the activities made possible by Boot Drive proceeds is "Camp Oo-U-La," a camp held exclusively for burn-injured children.

Personnel from Hall County Fire Services attended the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation Luncheon on Feb. 4 to receive recognition for their efforts in 2019.

Hall County Fire Services was one of more than 100 fire departments throughout the State of Georgia that participated in the 37th year of the "Give Burns The Boot"® fund-raiser.
