Girls soccer: Buford opens with win over Lanier; Jefferson beats Johnson

SUGAR HILL — The Buford girls soccer team (1-0) started the season with a 3-0 shutout win against Lanier on Tuesday.

Ava Sherman, Teresa Metz and Sydeny Borgelt scored for the Lady Wolves. Arden Paulino and Sherman dished out the assists.

JOHNSON 0

Johnson (0-1) fell on the road in the season opener to Jefferson (1-0) on Tuesday in Jefferson. 

The Lady Dragons scored three of their fourth goals in the first half. The Johnson defense, led by keeper Grace Yancey with several key saves, helped slow the Jefferson offensive attack in the second half. The Lady Dragons scored one goal in the final period.
