Gov. Brian Kemp sought to reassure the public Monday about the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine during an appearance at a nursing and rehabilitation center in Gainesville.

Kemp, joined by public health commissioner Kathleen Toomey and community health commissioner Frank Berry visited Pruitt Health's The Oaks-Limestone facility on Flintridge Road.

Toomey said the public should know that data from the vaccine shows it is safe and effective, calling the vaccine "wonderful."

Pruitt Health is the first of 14 assisted living facilities to receive the vaccine under a partnership with the state Department of Public Health and CVS Health.

This story will be updated when the event ends.
