The City of Baldwin will hold a special election on March 16, 2021, to fill the Post 4 seat left vacant by Councilman Jeff Parrish, who resigned in September.
The person elected will begin service immediately upon election, serving through Dec. 31, 2021.
“A significant difference from the last time we reviewed this is the qualifying fee is actually going to be $35,” said Mayor Joe Elam during Monday night's meeting. “I’m thankful that we were able to find a way to make that happen in order to lower that barrier.”
Qualifying for the seat will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Jan. 11-14, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 15, at the Habersham County Elections Office, Jacobs Way, Suite 101, Clarkesville.
“I would encourage any and all Baldwin citizens to consider running to serve your city, and to help make Baldwin a better future,” Elam said.
Should a runoff be required, the top two vote-getters will face each other on Tuesday, April 13.
