As East Hall High School prepares to allow in-person students back on campus next week, Chestatee High School students will move to a blended learning model after an increase in COVID-19 cases on campus.

In addition, Cherokee Bluff Middle and High School will remain on the blended learning model through Wednesday, while CW Davis Middle School in-person students will learn from home through Tuesday. Parents will be notified the day prior to the scheduled return if there are any changes.

"There was not a significant reduction in quarantine numbers and positives cases in each of these three schools to warrant a return to in-person instruction," said Stan Lewis, Director of Community Relations & Athletics for the Hall County School District.

Lewis said the decision to transition Chestatee High School to blended learning came after the school showed a significant number of student absences related to COVID-19 in a 36-hour period.

"The entire facility will undergo a deep cleaning on Saturday, December 12 to ensure a safe return for students and team members," Lewis said. "We anticipate blended learning to last three days for Chestatee High, through Wednesday December 16."

Lewis said district officials will monitor the numbers and determine if blended learning should be extended.

The last day of school before the holiday break for Hall County schools is Friday, Dec. 18.

The Hall County School District continues to monitor quarantine numbers and positive COVID-19 cases in all of its schools. We are in daily communication with our principals, the North Georgia Health System, and the District 02 Department Public of Health. We will strive to communicate in a timely manner any change in instructional delivery to parents and the community.

Moving forward, especially as we enjoy the upcoming holiday, the district continues to encourage all students, families, and team members to adhere to mitigation practices while off campus. Our ability to maintain in-person instruction relies heavily on our collective effort.
