Five people were arrested Sunday following a shooting at an apartment complex off Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville, police said.
No injuries were reported, but police said six vehicles and the 700 building at North Pointe Apartments were damaged by gunfire.
Officers responded to the apartment complex around 7:45 p.m. Sunday after a caller to 911 reported a fight in progress with shots fired.
A sweep of the area was conducted, and later officers executed a search warrant for an apartment in the 700 building. Rifles and handguns were discovered hidden in the apartment, and more than 28 grams of marijuana was seized.
Five people inside the apartment were arrested and taken to the Hall County Jail. They will be identified later, police said.
“We are fortunate that no injuries have been reported from this case, especially since this took place in a densely populated residential complex," Police Chief Jay Parrish said. " This type of behavior is reckless and those involved showed no restraint, as well as no regard for human life. We must hold those responsible for this heinous act accountable and come together to support those who are directly affected by this recklessness.”
The shooting remains under investigation. Police are asking that anyone with information about this incident to contact them.
