Basketball: Lakeview girls, Habersham boys shoot past Chestatee

DEMOREST — Joelle Snyder scored a game-high 28 points in a 53-47 loss to Jackson County in the second round of the Piedmont Classic Tournament on Wednesday.

The Lady Lions were up at the half 20-16, but Jackson County's 22-7 run in the third quarter pushed the Panthers ahead for good.

Snyder scored a combined 54 points in two days which earned her a spot on the Piedmont Classic All-Tournament team.

Sarah Nivens added five points and five rebounds in the loss.

Lakeview (0-3) will play Hart County at Cherokee Bluff on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.

CHESTATEE 50

Malachi Dooley scored 19 points and Grant Tipton had 11 to lead the Raiders past Chestatee in the Piedmont Classic on Wednesday. 

Hugh Pruitt led the War Eagles with 15 points, while Peyton Phillips added 13 and Ethan Popham had 12. 

The Raiders jumped out to a 14-9 lead after the opening period, but the War Eagles 17 point second quarter cut Habersham's lead to one point, 27-26 at the break. 

But the Raiders outpaced Chestatee in the second half 30-24,
