With the holidays rapidly approaching, everyone’s mind is on decorating. But the interior designers at House Dressing Interior Design have their mind on decorating, and much more, all year round.

“We do a little bit of everything,” said House Dressing owner Elizabeth Thompson, who embodies holiday decor as she sits on a red and green striped chair next to the showroom’s Christmas tree. “We do everything from architectural drawings to the pretty, fluffy stuff like you see here in the showroom with fabrics and wall coverings and all those things.”

Thompson explained that she and her designers work with a client on a project from beginning to end. House Dressing interior designers offer work on new constructions, remodels, full decorating services and what they refer to as “light fluffing”.

No matter the project, Thompson said that it typically begins with an initial conversation with the client to understand exactly what they want, then moves to a consultation or home visit.

After House Dressing designers have a clear understanding of what the client wants, they put together a proposal, and once the client accepts the proposal, the work begins.

“By doing a little bit of everything we help make it more complex on ourselves but I love it, I love all of the different aspects of it,” said Thompson.

She said something that makes House Dressing unique among other interior designers is the wide variety of styles and decor that her company offers. A look at the House Dressing website is a testament to Thompson’s word, as there are examples of completed looks with names from “Glass House East” to “Dixon Mid Century Ranch”.

The need for a variety of decor in Gainesville homes was what Thompson said led her to start House Dressing in 2009.

“I felt like Gainesville needed a more personalized interior design service, there really wasn’t anybody around here that was doing interior design,” said Thompson. “I wanted to use my knowledge and experience to have a very custom, personalized service for my clients.”

She said that the team’s personalized approach to each client is also what sets them apart from other interior designers.

“We take their thoughts, their opinions and make it into what they want and it’s not just a House Dressing mold,” said Thompson.

This time of year, House Dressing staff offer Christmas decorating services, as well. Thompson said that she and the rest of the staff enjoy decorating for Christmas and being a part of their clients’ memories.

“It’s always fun going through the client’s decorations and seeing what their special memories, traditions and everything are and putting a new take on some of their things that they’ve had for a while,” said Thompson.
