Banks County sheriff’s deputies cleaned up a backlog of outstanding shoplifting warrants last week.
From Nov. 15 to Nov. 17, Banks County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, conducted Operation Holiday Sweep.
“The objective of the operation was to locate and arrest offenders with outstanding shoplifting warrants,” said Banks County Sheriff’s Maj. Carissa McFaddin.
The three-day operation netted the arrests of almost two dozen people.
“The arrests are in hopes of curtailing shoplifting in our local businesses throughout the holiday season,” said Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed. “It is an unfortunate belief that people can steal from businesses without harm being done. However, business owners throughout Banks County continuously give to organizations that properly assist our needy citizens. Stealing from them hurts us all by driving up prices and decreasing our faith in people.”
Those who were arrested and booked in at Banks County Detention Center include:

“The warrants had been obtained from our deputies during 2020 and due to COVID precautions in place, arrests were deferred at the time of incident,” McFaddin said. “There are additional warrants for shoplifting that have yet to be served.”
