Three people were shot and killed at a home in Lawrenceville Saturday, November 21, and now one suspect is in jail.
On Saturday afternoon, a 9-1-1 call alerted officers that a person had been shot at a home on Creek Water Court. When officers arrived, they found one victim in the cul-de-sac suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The nearby home had an open garage door, so officers searched inside looking for additional victims. Inside the home, they found two more male victims deceased.
Several hours later, authorities were able to track down a suspect, Justice R. Lusk, age 21 of Stone Mountain. According to Cpl. Michele Pihera of the Gwinnett County Police Department, he was found near the scene of the crime, but authorities have not yet been able to release details on how they connected him to the crime. “We can’t give a lot of information because everything is so quickly developing. We are very fortunate we have a triple homicide suspect in custody so quickly,” says Pihera. “The investigators are working hard to process the scene and make sure they have all their ducks in a row as they continue this criminal investigation.” Lusk has been charged with three counts of felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of the felony. He remains in the Gwinnett County jail.
The victims have been identified as Robert Caverly, age 64 of Lawrenceville, Eugene McClam, age 45 of Lawrenceville, and Steven Finch, age 33 of Arabi, GA. McClam and Caverly were residents of the home where the homicides took place.
Authorities are still investigating the murders and attempting to determine a motive.
