ATLANTA — The Gainesville girls opened their season with a solid 40-26 win over Lovett on the road Saturday afternoon.
Senior Lauren Teasley poured in 11 points to lead the Lady Red Elephants (1-0). Zaria Williams added 9 points and Treshya Martin 6 points for Gainesville.
Gainesville will be back in action on Monday taking on Cedar Shoals in the Gainesville Classic.
LCA TAKES TOURNEY TITLE
Lanier Christian Academy opened its season winning the Southern State Classic in Suwanee.
Shyla Sheffield was named MVP with 16 points in 12 rebounds in the championship game. Lexie Robertson and Reece Montgomery also were named to the All tournament first team.
