Taylor named District 2 Health Director

Zachary Taylor, M.D., M.S., has accepted the position of District 2 Health Director after serving as acting health director for the district since September.

Taylor assumed the job of acting health director folloowing the departure of Pamela Logan.

Previously, Dr. Taylor was Health Director for the North Georgia Health District in Dalton and will continue to serve there in an acting role until a replacement is named.

Dr. Taylor’s prior experience includes work as Regional Health Administrator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Region VIII in Denver, Colorado, work in the Division of Tuberculosis Elimination at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and work as Medical Epidemiologist in the Division of Health Studies at the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. He has also worked with the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research in Rockville, Maryland and Indian Health Services in New Mexico and North Dakota.

In addition, Dr. Taylor has written many articles for peer-reviewed publications, books and government publications about tuberculosis, epidemiology and other health conditions. He is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, holds licensure with the National Board of Medical Examiners and holds degrees from the Medical College of Georgia, University of Maryland and LaGrange College.

District 2 Public Health encompasses 13 counties in the Northeast Georgia region, including Hall County.
