BUFORD — The Buford girls volleyball team advanced to the Class 6A finals with a 3-0 sweep of Kennesaw Mountain at home on Saturday in the state semifinals.
The Lady Wolves will have to a week, however, before taking on Pope, the 2018 Class 6A state champion, in the finals. Buford is looking for its first state title in volleyball since winning back-to-back championships in 2015 (Class 4A) and 2016 (Class 5A).
Jefferson, however, was denied a spot in the Class 4A championship series falling to Northwest Whitfield 3-1 at The Arena. And Union County fell 3-0 to Pace Academy in Buckhead in the Class 2A/A Public semifianls.
The GHSA Volleyball State Championships will be held on Saturday, November 7 at the Champions Center in Lakepoint Sports Complex in Cartersville.
