DEMOREST – Nearly two weeks after Hurricane Delta dumped nearly a foot of rain on the county, the Habersham County Road Department has closed the bridge on Pardue Mill Road.

“The abutment that holds the structure in place has washed out due to the impacts of Hurricane Delta,” said Habersham County Public Information Officer Carolyn McDuffie in a statement Friday afternoon. “Crews are assessing the damage in order to reopen the bridge was quickly as possible.”

Heavy rains from Hurricane Delta deluged parts of Habersham County, dumping more than 10 inches of rain that flooded creeks and rivers.

The road will remain closed at the bridge until essential repairs are completed.

Pardue Mill Road runs between Ga. 115 West and Habersham Mills Road.
