Dale McDowell closed out the 2020 Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series season with a pair of victories in the King of the Mountain Fall Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee over the weekend.
The Chickamauga, Georgia racer matched his first two wins of the season by sweeping the final two for the series on the year at the high banked, 4/10-mile dirt track. McDowell pocketed a total of $10,000 for his efforts over the weekend.
On Friday night, McDowell worked his way around leader Ricky Weiss and drove on to the victory. Weiss finished in second, with Sam Seawright third, Ashton Winger fourth and Tommy Kerr in fifth.
On Saturday night, McDowell bookended the weekend by edging out Weiss again for the win. Seawright finished in third, followed by Michael Page in fourth and Austin Kirkpatrick in fifth.
With a 13th place finish on Friday and a 14th place finish on Saturday, Billy Franklin scored the series championship for the 2020 season. Franklin took the title by 122 points over second place Mark Dodson. Sam Seawright, Josh Putnam and Ashton Winger rounded out the top five in the final point standings.
