If you like offense, Jacobs Media airwaves is the place to be for Week 9

Several northeast Georgia area teams made moves last week in some key region games. Region 8-4A saw the week's most exciting game as Flowery Branch held off North Oconee in double overtime in a crucial game for playoff implications, and fans heard it on one of the three Jacobs Media stations.

This week, three more big region games will highlight the action on Jacobs Media airwaves and on live streaming.

The Branch will once again be on the air as the Falcons travel to Athens to take on Cedar Shoals (1-4, 1-1 Region 8-4A) as they try to continue their run in Region 8-4A play. Fans will be able to hear the action live on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live). A win for the Falcons (4-2, 1-1 Region 8-4A) who are in third place but hold the tiebreaker over second-place North Oconee, would help them keep pace with the Titans or even move into second place if East Hall can knock off the Titans in Bogart.

And speaking of East Hall, on FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live), you'll be able to hear if the Vikings (4-3, 1-2 Region 8-4A) can pull the upset over North Oconee (2-5, 2-1 Region 8-4A). The Vikings are coming off a wild 55-50 win over Chestatee last week after having to forfeit a pair of region games due to COVID-19 issues. It should be another shootout in 8-4A as the Vikings are led by junior quarterback Clete Cooper and the Titans are led by senior quarterback and Clemson-commit Bubba Chandler. Both QBs passed for over 300 yards last week and both teams need a win to stay in the playoff race.

But the highlight of the evening may on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live) as Gainesville travels to South Forsyth in a Region 6-7A battle in Cumming. So far, virtually every game in Region 6-7A has gone down to the final series. It is a huge game for both teams as five teams in the region are within 1 1/2 games of each other at the halfway point. Expect another fast-paced offensive shootout as the Red Elephants (4-2, 2-0 Region 6-7A) are 7th in Class 7A in scoring  (209, 34.8 ppg). However, the War Eagles (4-1, 1-1 Region 6-7A) lead Class 7A in scoring (232, 46.4 ppg). Both defenses also have shown they will give up points.

Buckle up, fans, it should be another great Friday night around the area.
