Flowery Branch closed its regular seaon with a come-from-behind 9-6 win over Madison County Thursday night in Region 8-4A action.
The win also helped the Lady Falcons (18-3, 12-0 Region 8-4A) complete a perfect record in region play.
Branch pounded out 12 hits on the night, paced by Lauren Hicks, who was 2-for-4, including a two-run home run and 4 RBI. MaKaela Davis had two hits and 2 RBI, Aubrey Bourrie had two hits and scored two runs, and Rylee Rothschild also had two hits for the Lady Falcons.
Alyssa Wagner got the start and went four innings giving up four runs on five hits while striking out one. Nikki Harris came in relief and got the win going three innings giving up two runs and striking out three.
The Lady Falcons will take the No. 1 seed into next week's Class 4A state tournament. Flowery Branch will play host to Fayette County on Monday in a doubleheader at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex to open a best-of-three series.
Monday's games will begin at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with Game 3, if necessary, set for Tuesday.
