As early voting continues across Georgia, it is important to know the technical aspects of the voting process, such as what type of ID to bring to the polls.
Georgia law requires residents to show photo identification when voting in person
There are six valid forms of ID that a voter can bring to the polls:
- Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID (including a free ID card issued by the county registrar's office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services)
- A Georgia driver's license, even if expired
- An employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
- A valid U.S. passport
- A valid U.S. military photo ID
- A valid tribal photo ID
Voters are not required to present identification when voting absentee by mail.
