It didn't take long for region play to heat up and the upsets to begin. The AccessWDUN coverage area has one of the lightest nights of the season with just 11 games set for Friday night.

However, several huge region contests will highlight the action once again. And as usual, three games will be on the Jacobs Media airwaves and live streaming on AccessWDUN.

After taking a week off from region play last week in a gut-wrenching 28-27 loss to Hillgrove, Gainesville (3-2, 1-0 Region 6-7A) will play host to Lambert (4-1, 0-1 Region 6-7A) at City Park. You can hear all the action on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live)The Red Elephants are tied for the early region lead with South Forsyth and Denmark while the Longhorns saw their four-game win streak snapped last week. The two teams have split a pair of meetings over the last two seasons with Gainesville routing the Longhorns 55-7 in Suwanee in 2019. Gainesville can keep the pressure on in the region with a win while the Longhorns will try to keep pace.

On FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live), one of the area's oldest rivalries will renew in Cleveland as White County entertains North Hall in a huge Region 7-3A matchup. It will be the 48th meeting between the two programs with the Warriors holding a 24-23 edge. But now they are back in the same region and this one will have huge ramifications no matter the outcome. The Trojans (2-3, 1-0 Region 7-3A) have rebounded from an 0-3 start and have their patented wing-T offense in full gear after scoring 90 points the past two games. The Warriors (4-1, 0-1 Region 7-3A) lost a shootout against Dawson County last week and need a win to stay in the early playoff race despite opening the season 4-0 for the first time since 1975.

And, another big Region 7-3A battle in Oakwood can be heard live on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live) when West Hall plays host to Cherokee Bluff. The Bears (5-0, 1-0 Region 7-3A) have been as dominant as any team in the area over the first half of the season. They have outscored their opposition 208-20 behind a defense that already has registered three shutouts on the season. The Spartans (2-3, 0-1 Region 7-3A) saw their two-game win streak snapped last week against North Hall. The key may be if the Spartans defense can slow down a solid Bears rushing attack after allowing over 300 yards last week to the Trojans.

Friday Game Night will keep you in tune with all of these contests and more. Be sure to check in with us throughout the night on Friday and keep up with live scoring on twitter: @FridayGameNight.
