The Jackson EMC Foundation’s Board of Directors awarded grants to several Hall County organizations during their September meeting.
A total of $77,595 in grants was awarded, with $28,485 going to organizations serving Hall County. These funds will be used by the institutions to finance various community outreach projects:
- $15,000 was granted to the Georgia Mountains YMCA to help underprivileged elementary and middle school students attend its afterschool program.
- $6,985 was given to the North Hall Lions Club in Clermont to provide vision screening to Hall County elementary school students through its Eyes for Education program.
- $6,500 was gifted to the Rotary Club of Gainesville to fund its Accessibility Ramp Program, which constructs safe accessibility ramps at the homes of local citizens with disabilities and other mobility challenges.
Jackson EMC Foundation grants are funded by participating cooperative members who have their monthly electric bills rounded to the next dollar through the Operation Round Up program.
Individuals or charitable organizations in the following counties are eligible to apply for a grant: Clarke, Banks, Barrow, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison and Oglethorpe. Applications are available online.
