HARTWELL — The man Hart County sheriff’s officials believe killed one person and injured another Monday night is in custody.

Larrendrick R. Tabor was arrested about 8 a.m. Tuesday on Ga. 172 within sight of South Hart Elementary School, according to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland.

“At approximately 8 p.m. on Jan. 27, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to multiple people shot on Friendship Road,” Cleveland said.

One victim, Correndrick Alexander, died at the scene. The second victim was discovered injured at a neighbor’s home, Cleveland said.

The sheriff’s office alerted those living within a five-mile radius via the Code Red mass notification system.

Due to the search location and the severity of the crimes, officials made the decision to close South Hart Elementary School on Tuesday.

Tabor was taken into custody by Cleveland and deputies without incident near the school.
