Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.37 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline - that's a drop in price from last week. Monday's state average is 3-cents less than a week ago, 1-cent less than last month, and 21-cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $35.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $5.55 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.74 per gallon.

"Increased stocks and low demand have helped to push the national gas average lower this week,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “As these trends continue, American motorists will likely continue to see pump prices decline through the week.”

National Average Declines as Gas Stocks Grow and Demand Remains Low

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.52 per gallon, which is 3 cents less than last week, 3 cents less than a month ago, and 26 cents more than a year ago. In its latest weekly report, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) revealed that total domestic stocks of gasoline continue to grow. According to EIA’s data, stocks grew by 1.7 million barrels last week, bringing the current total to 260 million barrels. The current level is in line with the level seen in mid-January 2019. For gasoline demand, EIA estimates that it grew slightly from 8.56 million barrels per day (b\d) to 8.66 million b/d last week, but the current demand level is lower than last year’s 8.87 million b/d at this same time.
